Meet the artist

My name is Carla Stoyanova. Based in Sofia, Bulgaria, I am a self-taught artist, aiming to bring satisfaction and meaning to your heart and to your home.
Focusing on realism and surrealism, my goal is to evoke different emotions in each individual so that every painting resonates with the viewer in a specific way.
So far I have had two solo exhibitions at 22nd High School “G.S. Rakovski” (2017) and “The Gin House”(2021), as well as co-exhibitions at The Cinema House (2018) , Place 167 (2019) and The National Museum of Natural History (2021). You can learn more about my exhibitions and projects here.
My creative outlook on life is based on 14 years of devotion to classical ballet. In addition to my love of Art, I am interested in science, and two years in a row I was ranked first (2015) and second (2017) in the National Bulgarian Competition “Space – Present and Future of Mankind” in the category of “Space Models”.

Although I have a Bachelor's degree in Communications Management from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, my academic duties did not stop my creative impulse, and during my first year, I received two first prizes in student competitions for Photography (2018) and Fine Arts (2019).
In 2020 and 2021, I was invited to be part of the young jury for the Master of Art Film Festival, an international film festival for documentaries on Art.
I am currently working as a Science Communication Expert at Pensoft Publishers, where I support the communication, dissemination, and exploitation activities of Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe research projects focused on biodiversity and life sciences, with a particular emphasis on pollination.
My professional path does not put my creative drive on hold — despite my demanding daily routine, I try to continue to create new worlds where viewers can immerse themselves, dream and get lost for a moment.
